Desert Springs Baptist Church
SUMMARY STATEMENT OF CORE BELIEFS
We believe that there is one God eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Isa. 43:10, 11; Heb. 9:12, 26b, 28a; 1 Pt. 1:18a, 19; Heb 9:14).
We believe the Bible to be the inspired, the only infallible authoritative Word of God (2 Pt. 1:21; 2 Sam. 23:2; Deut. 6:6; 2 Tim 3:16; Rom 15:4).
We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ (Jn. 1:1-4,9,12,14), in His virgin birth (Lk. 1:26b-38), in his sinless life (Heb 4:15), in his miracles (Jn. 2:11; Acts 2:22), in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood (Eph. 1:7), in His Bodily resurrection (Lk. 24:1-6), in His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Acts 1:9-11), and in His personal return in power and glory (Rev. 19:11-16)
We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful men, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential and that salvation comes by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone (Jn. 3:1-21; Rom. 5:1; Eph. 2:8, 9; Heb. 11:6).
We believe that scriptures teach that is the duty of every born again believer to follow the example and command regarding baptism and that baptism is by immersion (Matthew 3:15-17; Mark 9:9-12; Luke 3:21, 22; Acts 2:38-41; Acts 10:47-48).
We believe the New Testament church is local body of baptized believers in the faith and fellowship of the gospel, committed to His word, and seeking to extend the gospel to the ends of the earth. The church is an autonomous body, operating under the Lordship of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:42-47, 4:32-35, 5:14; II Corinthians 1:1; Galatians 1:1).
We believe that baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper represent the two ordinances of the local new testament church necessary to be observed, but neither of which offer saving efficacy (Acts 2:38-41; Matthew 26:26-27; Mark 14:22-23).
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life (I Jn. 5:4-12).
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost-those who are saved unto the resurrection of life (Rev. 21:1-7) and those who are lost unto the resurrection of damnation (Rev. 20:11-15).
We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 2:41-47)
We believe in the biblical principle of church discipline and restoration (1 Cor. 5:1-5; 14-20).
